As entrepreneurs, we project what WE want onto everyone else, including our coaches. What makes us happy isn’t what (necessarily) makes THEM happy. “More is better” is a fallacy for our membership AND for our coaches’ wages.

In the “Leveling Up” presentation, I broke down types of work by levels. Coaches fall into Level 3; gym owners fall into Level 4. Our motivations are different. Most coaches I’ve met (thousands) aren’t motivated by entrepreneurial opportunity and risk; most owners are.

An entrepreneurial coach can make as much as they like in the Stratified Model. But don’t be surprised when a non-entrepreneurial coach doesn’t chase every opportunity you present. Their “Perfect Day” and yours will be different. That’s why you’re an owner, and they’re not.

In this episode, I share a few ways to think about coaches’ wages; compare relative earnings between different cities; and introduce “The Happiness Benchmark” infographic.
