Daily Update

Mike Michalowicz might be my favorite author. After he did a three-hour session with members of our high-level Tinker program, he offered to run a free webinar with me to help gym owners get ready for the post-COVID “Surge.”

His best advice: “Look upstream.”

You can listen to Mike’s talk with gym owners here: “The Great Reinvention With Mike Michalowicz.”

Daily Lesson

Mike’s superpower is taking big, important concepts like “build your business around your best customers” and turning them into actionable directives (“The Pumpkin Plan”).

That can be your superpower, too.

The key is to understand your audience better. That will guide you to produce content that will help them know, like and trust you as a coach.

In his two-part series on communication, Two-Brain Coaching mentor Shawn McQueen tells us how to make connections:

“Effective Communication Strategies”

“Effective Communication Strategies, Part 2”

Daily Directive

When you’re coaching today, imagine you’ve lost the ability to speak.

How will you guide them without verbal cues?

How will you correct their movement?

How will you spur them on?

How will you celebrate their victory?

Next, identify one phrase you overuse in coaching and replace it with a new one. The more you repeat the same cues, the same congratulations and the same greetings, the more quickly your clients get bored.

How can you say it differently?

Finally, add 10 percent more enthusiasm to every client-facing interaction for the next 24 hours.
