When COVID hit, Crystal Kirby-Peloquin and Mike Warkentin made the tough decision to close their bricks-and-mortar gym in Winnipeg permanently and move their business online.
“The day my husband Mike and I moved 20,000 pounds of gear onto a trailer, drove to another province, unloaded it, and drove back home was harder than any workout I have done,” she says. “It felt like an alternate reality.”
Thankfully, Two-Brain Business had her back.
“Two-Brain keeps you focused on what you want to achieve, so even if you have to do some hard things to get there, you know it’s absolutely possible,” Crystal said. “When I made the decision to do this, Jeff Burlingame was my mentor. He had more faith in me than I had in myself. He gave me the courage to make this move and then helped me organize a seamless transition.
“Setting my prices appropriately was really what made this possible. Now that I am online, Ashley Mak is guiding me and helping me retain the clients I have and grow even more.”
Now, with 204 Lifestyle, Crystal’s average revenue per member per month has increased significantly.
“This is due to pricing my services appropriately and seeking out clients I want to work with,” she said. “When I started, I had one client who did fitness and nutrition with me. Now, almost half of my clients are doing both. This is the most valuable service I offer.”
Beyond refining her service offerings, Crystal has improved her efficiency and productivity with Two-Brain’s help.
“It’s just me running the show, so I need systems in place to manage every aspect of my business. I also don’t want to work 16 hours a day!”
With a tough transition behind her, Crystal is working to create a perfect work-life balance as she grows the new online business.
“A few years ago, I decided I wanted to have a life at the lake,” Crystal said. “I wanted to wake up and have coffee on the deck, kayak, breathe the fresh air and not worry about managing staff. I also wanted more time to see my family and friends. I can proudly and very happily say, ‘I’ve arrived.’ The next step for me is figuring out what other businesses I want to build! I have so many ideas, and I know that Two-Brain can help me implement the right one.”
