What’s the No. 1 non-negotiable thing you add to your gym’s annual plan every year?
If you don’t have an immediate answer, I can tell you exactly what you need to do to grow your business in 2026:
Create an annual plan. Today.
I’ll be blunt: I want you to create an optimal plan that helps you PR every business metric in 2026. But any plan is better than no plan.
If your calendar is blank, it’s time to fill it by scheduling at least one gym-growing activity every month.
If you don’t know what to do, send me a DM and I’ll fire over my gym’s exact plan, plus a full event calendar you can use as is or customize.
To get your juices flowing, I’ll share what the top gym owners in the world said when we asked them what they prioritize in their annual plans.
Check it out:
“Five tests across two weeks that allow me to assess the overall fitness of the gym. I can see where the weaknesses are as a gym, and I can adjust programming accordingly.” (Bonus: This creates a prime opportunity to offer additional help to clients through PT, semi-private training or specialty groups!)
“Marketing! 5130 post, reaching out to past members, 5130 email, goal reviews, bring a friend.” (These are all spectacular revenue- and retention-boosting activities. A “5130” post is social content that says “I’m looking for 5 people to do 1 thing in the next 30 days.” Example: “I’m looking for 5 busy professionals who want to lose 5 lb. in the first 30 days of 2026!”)
“Bring-a-friend day, specialty clinic, merch order, 5130 post. Rinse and repeat.” (Doubling down on solid tactics beats experimenting with novelty every time.)
“Bring-a-friend event—three times. This is our No. 1 source of new leads and clients.”
“Hyrox simulations—six per year generate $2,000 each every two months.”
“An annual competition. This signature event nets us $3,000 to $7,000 every year.”
“Holiday party!” (This is a great retention play.)
And here are three similar answers that show exactly how annual plans produce clear growth:
“Rate increase to make sure I’ll do it and plan it.”
“Rate increase.”
“Rate Increase—3% on Nov. 1, 2026.
Think about it for a second: These last three gym owners all put something on the calendar that will literally increase revenue and profit next year.
No “maybe” or “if” or “perhaps.”
It’s guaranteed growth. On a precise schedule.
The last gym owner started earning 3% more on Nov. 1, 2025, and he’ll add another 3% on Nov. 1 next year—just because he sat down with a calendar today.
