Chris added $100,000 in revenue to one of his gyms in just one year and has since moved to a larger space and hired full-time staff. He followed that up by acquiring a second gym, where he uses an access and personal-training model to serve clients.
As a parent of two young kids, Chris knows the importance of running his gyms like real businesses so he doesn’t have to do “all of the things.” Luckily, with the help of Two-Brain Business, he was able to build systems, implement new revenue streams and empower his staff to handle most of the day-to-day operations so he could get away from being a one-man show.
Spending most of college as an engineering major but then sharply pivoting to be a guidance counselor, Chris knows what it’s like to make big career swings. With a master’s degree in counseling, he spent several years in public education while coaching functional fitness part time. He made the leap to open Kanna Fitness in Ambler, Pennsylvania, in 2017.
Chris spent the first six months doing everything himself: coaching all the classes and personal training sessions, answering emails and phone calls, posting on social media, and more. Taking naps on the couch at the gym was common, but so was missing things at home. Chris had a bigger vision for Kanna, but he needed help.
Joining Two-Brain Business gave Chris the knowledge, focus and accountability to implement new revenue streams, build systems, and create a marketing plan. After just one year, he was able to add over $100,000 of annual revenue to the gym, which allowed him to hire full-time staff, be home for his kids more and ascend to the Tinker Phase.
More recently, Chris moved Kanna Fitness into a bigger space and used Two-Brain strategies to add 60 members in less than three months.
His next big move: He acquired a second business, Main Line Gym, in which he offers access and PT services.
In his spare time, Chris loves to be with his family, travel (he and his wife summited Mt. Kilimanjaro) and figure out the next steps in the Tinker stage. He also runs a photography business. Now as a mentor, Chris is excited to help other gym owners reach their personal and professional goals, too.
