Mentorship is a guided process from your current spot toward your “perfect day.”
A mentor provides a model for success; but, more than that, a good mentor understands both parts of the decision-making process, and does what’s necessary to a) help you reach decisions; then b) enact necessary changes in the best way possible.
Here’s how it works at TwoBrain:
Six-to-eight weeks of one-on-one guidance. Starting with a values inventory, the mentor breaks everyone in the business into 12-15 distinct roles. Then we split the workload according to strengths, and identify “high-value work” vs “low-value work”. We automate the core processes (like “here’s how we run a class”) and build procedures around SOPs. These are unique to your gym, but there are templates to help (and of course, you can lean on our experience.) We build staff contracts, evaluation procedures and operations manuals.
From there, we identify best opportunities for service: what do your best clients want? What’s the value of that service? How can we leverage these opportunities to create meaningful careers for you and your staff, and the best business possible? For example, when many gyms realize the high-volume class model isn’t sustainable, they struggle to raise the average revenue per member high enough to be sustainable. At this stage, we’re considering what each client MUST pay for viability, and then identify the paths to reach that number.
Next, we work through our retention strategy, which has replaced contracts in most gyms we work with. Long-term retention requires behavioral change instead of a “contract” (not unlike marriage.) We show you the process for intake and on boarding clients, so we have a sticky net when we start marketing.
Then we work into marketing – usually 9 or 10 recurring strategies including email marketing, social media, and Affinity Marketing, which you can find in my podcast.
Finally, we build your first timeline. This is a forecasting tool. We work backward from “time” and “profit” goals, identify hurdles, and strategize from there. This becomes your monthly work list. You can graduate into our monthly call “growth stage” after completing your first time lining doc. That’s optional, but 100% of our clients have gone into that stage.
The conversation starts with a 1:1 call six times over the initial Incubation phase. Homework help is available through the modules and templates—again, these aren’t the primary product, just the “backup.” Much like the tutoring available outside class.
