CrossFit TPA had been open for three years by the time owner Tammy Friedt realized what she was doing was unsustainable.
Her passion was making people healthy, so she made exceptions. A lot of them.
“I was giving away discounts like Oprah gave away Pontiacs—except I wasn’t a gazillionaire,” she said.
The gym was also a one-woman operation. Come February 2015, the business was in the red and Tammy was “slowly dying by my own ‘I’ll-do-it-all’ mindset,” she said.
So she booked a free call with Chris Cooper, joined the Two-Brain family and learned how to structure her business, market it, delegate and take a leadership role. Seven months after joining Two-Brain Business, the gym had doubled its monthly revenue. Just over a year later, revenue was strong enough to hire a general manager and head coach—and pay Tammy $3,000 per month.
“With mentoring and restructuring my entire business from the ground to the rafters, I was able to fix the many mistakes I had made over the years and turn my hobby into a profitable business,” she said.
In early 2018, Tammy sold the gym to her general manager and head coach.
“They walked into a profitable, sustainable business and I became a mentor for Two-Brain Business,” she said.
Today, Tammy says she’s living her Perfect Day, helping entrepreneurs “create the greatest version of their businesses possible” while also enjoying freedom of time and wealth with her husband and twin sons.
And she’s still passionate about helping people get fit—in business.
Tammy’s areas of specialty include affinity marketing, developing additional revenue streams, navigating rate increases and selling gyms.
